Jessie Chorley Tea Towel.......

I really love Jessie Chorleys work, and when I saw she was selling tea towels I had to have a go at making a bag with one. I had to chop the towel up a bit to make it shorter and get all the special print bits in.   They are lovely quality so easy to sew you can buy them here http://jessiechorley.bigcartel.com/.

The Front using the tea towel and some french Linen and ticking and I embroidered the words.

The back I embroidered some and appliqu├ęd  a Jessie clock cut out of her tea towel

I used some more tea towel for a pocket, and made the handles from some ticking.
I thought it would go a treat with my jeans this summer.

I reckon you could make a lovely bag with vintage unused tea towels too, but this one has the most lovely Print by Jessie so is extra nice.

Have fun making xx
Lynn

What a lovely idea Lynn, I also love her work, and that of her mother Primmy too....I will never forget how I felt when I first saw Primmy's work at the Knitting & Stitching show in 2008 or thereabouts...I felt like I had come home.I didn't buy the catalogue and it went out of print....I had to wait until 2014 when I found it on ebay :) "at a price"!
Jessie's early work was also on show and I loved that too
Thank you for sharing this lovely idea and you have made the very best out of a lovely textile.

Oh Lyn thats beautiful and will look good with your jeans or a summer dress. I did see the t towel on Jessies web site but I only use toweling ones, more absorbent, so didn't give it a second glance but not I'm having second thoughts!! ha xx

You've made something lovely to start with even better, not an easy thing to do, brilliant.

I do not know who Jessie Chorley is but I admire every purse you create. I know it is handsewn with the finest of care. Your artwork is beautiful.

Hi Lynn, I love your bags. At the moment, I'm thinking about making a tote bag out of some old needlepoint. (with very little idea of what I'm doing as usual...lol) I was juts thinking, a few of my creative friends and I get together weekly for a drawing challenge. Nothing formal, just fun. These friends are from all over the world, about 20-30, you know, who has the time, and we all make something along a theme, and I was thinking that I would really like to invite you along. Anyway, the next drawing challenge is over at mine (http://veronicaroth.com) and you're very welcome to join in if you have the time. Big hugs (missing England cause I'm in Vancouver right now). X
