All in the presentation....................

                                                    a sofa of one's own....................

                                                         only young once ...................................

A beautiful shop called Fleurie in Lewes Sussex....it drew me in like a wasp to jam.
Looking into this lovely place, my eyes fluttered from one exquisite display to another and you know that lovely feeling of discovering something quite beautiful I just wanted to move in!  ha ha ..

Thinking on... shouldn't we all have a space in our homes or lives that make us feel like this, so often on pinterest I see so many wonderful images pinned by all of us searching for that 'perfect setting' for that piece of ecru hemp, or soft fall of light on lace.  As the seasons move past us we gather pictures of Autumn leaves and fair isle jumpers why?? Are we missing something in our lives, are we satisfying our soul searching for something lost or not yet found.

Its a huge question I know, and our homes are not shop display areas, but our lives are special and our familys are special too,  making  where we live and love needs to have magic too doesn't it?

How do you make the beauty in your life, will you share it with me xxx

The displays you have shared are indeed lovely ...
A perfect question you have put forth lets me ponder for only a moment.
I live in a small cottage only 800 square feet, I work for an auctioneer as a textile appraiser and I have an obsession to try and preserve things from the past. Add that all up and I live in a tiny museum like setting, well loved furniture and trinkets beneath domes and in cupboards.
With my doggie, two Siamese cats and my comfortable chair I find solace, contentment and the ability to look about the room and find connections to the past...
I am grateful for good health, loving family and friends. Whatever the season life moves forward and by the grace of God I hope to move along with them...

I love it when I find a beautiful place. I'm quite a Pinterest addict and wish for things for my home but they're usually out of my price range. :) I love coloured crochet though and that is something I do have a lot of!

I'd love to start over-- in a new house-- with half my stuff! I look at the beautiful displays in the stores and magazines and just sigh---

Actually, I'd be thrilled if my craft room just wasn't such a mess--

Somehow-- I always imagined that your home is a beautiful display of creative designing-- every photo you've ever shared has been so beautiful:)

Such a lovely shop Lynn! I was near Lewes this summer, but passed it on my way to Brighton. Should have made a stop.

I don't really know how I make beauty in my life. Perhaps by creating my garden and by adding flowers and vintage items to my home. But I really think that the personality one has, is the most important for adding beauty to ones life :-)

Happy week!

Is the settee yours or the shops? It is so you.

In reference to your ? I do not pin, I do not have a Pinterest account. I do not need to fill my thoughts with so much. I seek to live simple and that carries into what I look at and how I daydream....which is found in nature. Standing beside the sea, under the redwoods, in the quiet rain. This is what I bring into the corners of our home. I

do however find also inspiration from my favorite magazine JDL...but not in the "I want" sense, rather a calm inspiration. I am happy in my home. I am thankful I have a home and the peace that abides within. It is filled with loved pieces. Pieces that hold meaning for my family.

I see this in your home life too and that is why your blog is one of the few that I visit and delight in.

I always think of you in January with your frozen laundry and sharing that winter is your favorite season. It impacted my heart and remains hidden away in a corner like a treasure.

I have a sofa similar to the one pictured here. This just gave me the loveliest idea.

I love settees, probably because I live in a small condo and my furniture needs to be small but stylish.

I have a very active Pinterest account. I used to just pin pretty images but now I look for recipes, cleaning tips, social media info.

As for making beauty in my life, I decorate my home to show my personality not to be on trend as in the magazines and catalogs. I find homes with personality are the most beautiful to me.

How do you make the beauty in your life? A wonderful and thoughtful question.

I love watching the way the light changes. Seeing all that's going on outside throughout the day. The quiet. It is not beauty that I make, but appreciate. I am shifting over to a softer color palette and bringing in a few items with a history into our home. And I love whimsical, handmade art and crafts. Little things that bring on a smile.

Loved seeing today's photos. Always a joy to visit you, Lynn.

Hugs,
Lin

Oooh what a glorious shop, I would love to spend an hour or two browsing. so many elements to soak up. I love to seek out tiny treasures and tend only to buy something for no other reason than I love it, hence a mis matched eclectic mix of objects, textiles, pictures, gifts and furniture that is our little sanctuary. A lovely post Lynn. I dare not go to pinterest but I will admit to having a look at your boards!

It is interesting isn't it? What I have in my home and what I yearn for on Pinterest or in magazines are sometimes quite far apart.
I suppose we generally work with what we already have and what we can afford to buy or make, to work with that. And before you know it you've gone down such a different design route to the ones you envisage.
Ah well - if we had what we wanted we'd having nothing to dream about??
