Happy Grey Days...........................

As you know I more or less try to make everything I wear now so I wanted to share with you  my new linen dress... I dyed the vintage linen sheet with logwood chips, then using a Merchant and Mills pattern the' Factory Dress' I made myself the most easy to wear dress ever!!! I have left the linen crumpled to add to the vintage look I like and I wore it with some T bar sandals, I stayed cool  all day!........

Washing line with various samples of linen samples being dyed the right shade of ..you guessed it grey!

My  obsession over grey continues through the week so when I found a large tin of Farrow and Ball Paint (Grey) at the car boot Tuesday  I painted my hall wall grey and popped a picture up and added a cushion I had printed and made...

they look really nice together summery and simple and look lovely with grey......
Hope your enjoying the lovely sunshine xxxx

I adore grey too. It is so peaceful. I wear grey and clothe my home in it too. Your dress is delicately wistful and the sea painting behind I dare say pulls me right in. Oxox

Hi Anonymous x
I am a 12 to 14 and I bought a size 12 and its fits beautifully, I bought another one the trapeze and made that up last year, that was gorgeous too. I used a floppy lightweight hemp/linen for this one. They are really good at M&M and will advise and help you with any query you have.
Hugs Lynn xxxx

"Happy Grey Days"...just the words cool me off a little, Lynn. Thank you. I know you all are having a heat wave, too, so the grey is welcome all around.

I can imagine how good it felt to wear...and knowing the you made it. I hadn't realized that you were trying to make all of your own clothes. May I link this post to our Wisteria & Sunshine conversation about it all?

The simplicity of what you are doing, the choices in personal and household adornment is so peaceful. Along with the music - well, I am read for a nap.

What a beautiful dress Lynn. I wish I had sewing machine skills, at the moment I am trying to alter some of my linen pieces but I am hand sewing them. I love grey and usually wear it with ochre, duck egg or dusky pink to cheer it up a little. I absolutely love linen, my favourite fabric. Your picture and cushion compliment each other perfectly x

Dear Lynn,

You are so talented! Are the paintings by you too? They look magnificent! The dress and the pillow are very pretty too.

How do you find the time?! It's been ages since I made a dress or a painting. Love the colour and linen fabric!

Have a happy Sunday!

Hello Lynn!
Your new dress is lovely. Very easy to wear I would imagine. I had two M&M patterns for Christmas - Top No 64 and the Dress Shirt pattern. I went out soon afterwards and purchased fabric and thread and have yet to make them up! I really must find time to do that as there's nothing quite like a new frock.
I am also a lover of grey. Grey with a pop of colour (usually a scarf).
Your newly made cushion looks stunning against the grey wall. So important to make things for yourself. I must take a leaf out of your book.
Keep well.

I really must conquer my reluctance to make clothes and also find the time. Maybe I can have you as my out worker Lynn?
Your cushion looks perfect with the grey paint too.
Do you have any new things coming up for sale in your Etsy shop? My dressmaker bag is in permanent use!

I used to make all my clothes. The trouble is that I can't part with the stuff I made. It's probably now classed as vintage! I love the dress and also the painting behind it. Beautiful colours.

Hello Lynn, your dress is simply divine, you are clever!
Isn't dyeing great fun? I have only ever used chemical dyes, but would love to have a go at natural. I really love the Indigo colour.
Your hall looks wonderful, your painting and cushion being perfect for eachother.
Many thanks for your visit and kind words.Trust you to like the photo that took itself!!
Have a wonderful sunny weekend, love Linda x

love the dress, so relaxed and functional but so pretty too. I have a craving for the softest greys to wear and for interior/exterior living spaces. a beautiful backdrop for other things to shine in - a generous and giving shade indeed... have made a commitment to hand sew my clothing stitch by stitch, as I have in the past. the drape and comfort in handmade clothing is really noticeable. my body tells me this just a clearly as it says to eat good food and rest and get sun - funny how specifically our needs can be revealed! always have loved your blog!
