Lots of thinking time......................

All pictures by  Plain English Design

Thank you for all of your lovely supportive comments and your lovely caring letters xxxx, and I really apologize for not calling in on everyone to leave my personal comments. We haven't stopped for days now and I think we are both feeling the strain. Our insurance company have drawn up a jobs list that completes in October  well at least it is this year......say no more! though I know we are not in such a bad mess like so many flooded homes both in this country and our friends far away in Australia xxx
On a brighter note I am throwing myself into re designing the whole of the basement......why not,  if its going to be a mess for months...lets have some fun with it...
Love Lynn xxxx
Have a peaceful and lovely week...... it is getting lighter as well isn't that just the best! xxx.

Making lemonade out of lemons, Lynn. Good for you. It will be fascinating to follow the resurrection posts that I'm sure you will be sharing with us.

It sounds like your spirits have improved as well. Very glad to read the first shock of it all has passed by.

What a brave soul you are taking on such a huge project! But as you said, if you are living with the mess why not make the most of it! I'm sure it will all look beautiful come October. Good luck and happy designing!

P.S. just had to mention that my word verification for this comment was 'squish'! How appropriate is that!

A perfect solution to a tragedy... a whole new decorated kitchen.
With so many beautiful choices Lynn it will be difficult to decide... but that will be half the fun.

Hello Lyn
I know I've been a very naughty blogger of late and haven't been leaving any comments. but I often read your blog and am so sorry to hear of your news, how awful for you. I can't believe just how positive you're trying to be about all of this, I guess in that kind of situation you have to look for the bright side, If it's any consolation, all those kitchens look gorgeous!
Take care

The winter before last I discovered a serious damp problem in my kitchen, rainwater had been seeping in under the back door for years, but because there was thick lino stuck down I hadn't realised what was happening. The insurance company wouldn't pay out as the cause was shoddy workmanship by whoever had renovated the cottage before I bought it. So out came all the fitted units (hurrah!), up came the entire kitchen floor, and a new solid cement one laid. Not having a cooker or a sink for a couple of weeks was a challenge, but like you I took the opportunity to change the things which I hadn't liked about my old kitchen and made it into a room that I now love to be in! So enjoy planning the layout and furnishing of your new basement, I'm sure you'll be so pleased with the end result and all the horribleness will fade into the past....

Now you have the chance to make some changes in your kitchen if you want to..I think you have great taste and bet it will look superb :-)
I´m beginning to get tired of renovating..we are so close now, isn´t it funny, all the details is taking so much time when one think it should be the building of walls and stuff?I´m really eager to be able to have a "normal" life for a change and to have things where they should be :-)Hopefully a couple more days...or at least until the weekend, I should be able to move all the tools from my pantry back to Markos workshop ;-P

Love and laughter to you my friend!

Hugs Anne

With Western Australia ablaze with bushfires, Queensland hit by a cyclone and floods, inner Melbourne under water and Sydney just coming out of a heatwave, not to mention what's going on in the rest of the world, these kitchen images had a lovely calming effect. Couldn't imagine anything bad ever happening while in one of these beautiful, beautiful rooms.

Now that the disaster has passed you can look forward to something new, somethings you've wanted for while, something shiny & beautiful. Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow.
