Some things are just not meant to be............

I was going to Paris this week........anyone that knows me, knows that for years 'Paris' is one of those wonderful places where I have so wanted to go ...........I was offered this place with work, helping with some of our students on a Paris visit, I only found out I was going just one week earlier, it was a lovely surprise and I was over the moon and could not believe my luck. So many people helped at work and home to make this happen for me.... can you believe I got the flu the day before the visit... and I could not go. I haven't honestly been so poorly in years..... so lots of tears later and I am still in bed... but I have stopped crying and started sewing a button necklace, there is always next year....and who knows what might happen then.......
With love from a very cosy snuffly bedroom...
Hugs Lynn xx

Oh, I feel so sorry to hear that you were not able to go to Paris. I tell you, you would have loved it. I visited Paris some months ago and it was lovely. I do hope you will get the opportunity later. I wish you a nice Sunday and hope you will recover soon.

Paris is a dream for me too!

Somethings are not meant to be. Dont be sad, just know that when the time is right you will go and enjoy it even more.

And dont worry they are having horrid weather there at the moment, so you are better off in bed...hope that cheers you up! ;)

I hope you feel better soon

Oh, I know you are sad, but Paris will still be there next year, and now is a time to take good care of yourself! Perhaps it's meant for you to see Paris in a different season under different circumstances.... Now, just curl up in bed, stay warm, and concentrate on getting better. A good book always helps to mend the soul.

Blessings,
Paula

I just recently came across your blog and what a delight it has been for me to all the beauty you create.

Your time will come don't worry. Just take care of yourself. As lovely as Paris is, you would not have been able to enjoy it with such a terrible cold.

Your necklace is lovely. Reminds me of the craft that people are putting together for the movie Coraline. I wish you would enter the box exchange. Here is the link:

Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear that you went sick!! Not to meantion not be able to visit charming Paris. However, it was not meant to be this time. Maybe it says, oh no, this time of year will not be good enough for you. Next time Lynn, next time..

I propose you stay in your inviting bed, drinking tea with lemon and just enjoy having time to relaxe and to recover.

Hello Lynn

So sorry that you're trip is off; albeit temporarily.

As other posters have said. An even more special trip is awaiting you in Paris further down your line, maybe with your husband, when you can enjoy it fully without having to be responsible for students.

Take the time to rest , recharge and recuperate and carry on with that scrummy necklace!

On a lighter note it reminds me of 'The Devil Wears Prada' where a character's Paris Fashion Week's Dreams are shattered due to a broken ankle, despite having starved herself for months ...

Ooops! Sorry about that ;o)

In the meantime, you could start planning your 'Paris In The Springtime' trip from your bed...

I truly hope you feel better soon.

Oh dear Lynn,

I should have left a message with your last post but time just passed. You asked me if I am painting full time and have a studio: My studio exists in my dreams :) but I have a wonderful kitchen with high ceeling and large windows so that is where I work best. I have been painting full time for 1 year but decided to take a part time job both for economic reasons and to get external inspiration. It works well...:)
I am sending you lots of getting well toughts..!

ROTTEN LUCK!! BUT AT LEAST YOU DIDNT GET THE FLU WHILE YOU WERE IN PARIS! THERE'S NOTHING LIKE YOUR OWN BED WHEN YOU ARE ILL. AND.....THE MARCHE'S AND FLEAS ARE MUCH MORE FUN WHEN IT'S WARM. YOU WILL GO, SWEETIE, AND IT WILL BE LOVELY.

JuliaRose said...

Hi Lynn,
Sorry to hear about your flu...I got a very bad virus on my way to Paris on my first and only holiday trip there, and had to be dragged around on others arms just to be able to stand up.
I remember not being able to stand at all, but had to stand in a waiting line to get into the Louvre, and when I finally got in, could only sit in one place till my friends had finished...missed out on seeing the Versais Palace, and lots of other things..
I cried like a baby, as it was all so hard for me...after dreaming of it for so long too...
It's a B..gger!!, as they say here.. Lucky you stayed home, as now you can see it one day in full health.

Well, rats.
Disappointment is a horrible feeling. And, to have to combine it with the flu must be quite dreadful. I am so sorry. When something like that happens to me, I usually think, just maybe, I might have sprained an ankle, or worse, had I gone, so perhaps, just perhaps, it is providential that I stayed. But then again, I am a bit of a Pollyanna, I suppose.
Rest and feel better!!
