Having such fun...hope you are too

Fairies for the Christmas Fayre..............
A car boot find hand quilted and gorgeous.........

Adrian has rewired my new vintagey bedside light

Car boot mirror (huge) £5.00 pounds....HONEST!!!!
Hello my lovely friends,
We have been having the most wonderful time on our holidays.......nearly now at an end ... we have been going to loads of car boots between the rain and finding some smashing stuff, especially the mirror, it's so pretty and nearly 1.50mtr's high and we are thrilled to give it a new home in our garden room. The hand made quilt is also stunning, a little thin at the edges, but thats ok it was brought back from France and unwanted???
I'll have it I said......and ran off with it, tucked safely under my arm.... after paying for it of course....
Our shabby crystal light is making my reading much more fun at bedtime, it is just what I needed and I haven't hardly stopped sewing, printing and dyeing so the 'Christmas fairies' are just a tiny, tiny peep to prove I have been working, ha ha.
Lots of love and hugs and a lovely start to autumn.
xxxxxxxxxx

Hello,

What wonderful finds...can hardly believe that stunning quilt from France was unwanted??? How could anyone reject such a beautiful piece. The fairies turned out so pretty Lynn, love the soft muted colors and the sequence to give them a bit of sparkle, very nice!

OK, it's official now. I've been struck by the green-eyed monster big time. WHY is it that my country lost nearly all of its treasured antiques during the war? It's really sad, and I so wish we'd be able to find such lovely pieces (for such lovely prices) but noooooo... I have to rely on my trusted eBay ;-).

Nuff said. I am extremely happy for you, dear Lynnston, and it's so marvelous to hear that you've been having a fab time!!!

Thinking of you, take care!

PS. Those fairies *deep sigh*
I'm at a loss for words to describe their delicate yet fun beauty!

I've just discovered your blog and I think it's lovely. Interior decor 'porn'! I've passed on an award to you - hope you don't mind? It's taken me ages because I've 'lost' it twice! Life can be so complicated sometimes.

Hello Lynn. Having discovered your blog a couple of weeks ago, it has very quickly gone to the top of my favourite blogs! The presentation is beautiful and your writing equally interesting. I love the photos which are very evocative, and particularly like the photo of the piece of textile art which is at the bottom of your blog page. I would love to see your creations at the Christmas fair, and as I don't live far away I do hope to come along. And like so many other people who have commented today, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the car boot sale quilt - stunning, lucky you. Wishing you many days of sunshine, colour and tranquility in the coming Autumn. Happy days to you!

There is no better way to spend a holiday than treasure hunting. The treasures you have discovered are beautiful, a quilt for warmth and comfort, a lamp to guide the hand and a fantastic mirror to reflect the beauty around you.
And oh yes wouldn't those sweet fairies be captivating dangling from a string to dance before the window, reflecting their little sparkles in the morning sunlight!

Me again, Lynn! Thank you for your lovely comment in my blog about my chandeliers. I am very partial to chandeliers with real candles, as they give such a mild, romantic glow, compared to light bulbs. My ceilings are high and the chandeliers hang fairly low down compared to the ceiling hight, so soot is not a problem in my house. The candles last quite a long time, depending of course on the type you use, at least six hours. But of course, with to chandeliers that together take 11 candles, I do use a lot of candles during the dark months. But I am willing to take the cost... (which, I suppose is more than would be from the electric light bulbs). i hope this was helpful to you, good luck!

Hi I have had this conversation with Steph at Curlew Country. She has also recently bought a fab quilt at a ridiculous price. Bargains like this just don't come my way. I particularly love the chandelier too. I have one promised by a friend when she finally finds something to replace it, but have been waiting a while now. Dev X

Dear lynn, you lucky, lucky, girl! I really enjoyed your post and love the pics. am glad you are having a good time.
question: when you find things in your home, that you think are okay but not your favourite anymore, do you keep them, sell them or hide them? I have accumulated so much things, that I am not sure what to do...

What a magical holiday you've all had Lynn! Your description was so fantastic I almost felt as though I was in the car with you! Although having just done the Adelaide to Melbourne round trip in the car this past weekend, I reckon another 1200kms. would just about do me in!

Those car boot finds are such lovely treasures, what a super holiday bonus for you!
